I have learned...
English- my favorite language
(ESAL-0420,0450,0470,0480)
(ESAL-0570, 0580)
English is known as the most common language nowadays. This language has the power to connect people from many corners of the world. Thanks to English, I can communicate with many people around me. During my time learning English, I have noticed a lot about the lifestyle of English-speaking countries and the mindset of people from different backgrounds. The English language challenges me not only with my patients but also with my willingness. English is a door that opens tons of new worlds to me. I would never be better at English if I could not step out there to interact with native English speakers. I boost myself to travel to use my English more and more. And this is one of the reasons I have a passion for cultural learning.

I introduced my traditional costume to international students

The last day of my ESAL class and we also called that day "Cultural Day"
I took the ESAL course at TRU when I first arrived. I enjoyed going to class a lot because I could talk to students from other countries and ask questions about their countries. Besides, we also had cultural events that benefited me. Students from different countries could exchange their cultures through their foods, traditional performances, and custom.
Spanish- a colorful language
(SPAN1110- Fall 2021)

My previous assignment in SPAN1110 class. A short story in Spanish.

Spanish is a challenging language. However, Spanish class brought me valuable lessons about exploring a new culture. Why do I define Spanish as a colorful language? Because I could feel the special in Spanish that illustrates the sociable of native Spanish speakers. The speed and tone in Spanish showed me the energetic and hectic lifestyles. With my personalities, I enjoyed learning Spanish because of its dynamic attraction to learners.

In addition, my professor mentioned Dia de Los Muertos, a famous holiday in Mexico, where people honor their family members who passed away. It would sound awkward to some people, but this holiday is meaningful and full of humanity. I have read about holidays, events from different Spanish-speaking countries. The meanings of celebrations left a great impression on my mind. I love Spanish festivals, foods, songs, and ways of life. One day soon, when this Covid time is over, I will travel again to Spanish-speaking countries to immerse myself in their culture.
