Halloween night with my host parents and Clara- 2018

In 2018, I made the big decision in my life was to fly to Canada to pursue my dream. Many people thought I should not fly too far away from home. But to me, I had thought that an adventure was waiting for me out there. I am thankful for previous experiences that supported me to integrate into my new life.

First, my interpersonal skills have developed. Before arriving in Canada, I was aware of the differences between Western and Eastern societies. However, knowing about the contrast is not enough. Living among people from other countries with different lifestyles urged me to apply what I gained before to adapt to the changes. I tried my best to improve my English and pay attention to what I saw before. There was a motivation for me to develop essential skills that could be useful for me to expand my limit.

Second, my worldview is modified, and I am now open-minded compared to before. I stepped out of my comfort zone to gain numerous cultural viewpoints. I realized that there are tons of mindsets, and each person has a different point of view about this world. I would question everything, but now I choose to show my respect and appreciation for other people's perspectives.

Living and studying in Canada benefit my readiness for the international workplaces. Canada is a diverse country attracting an enormous resource of human capital. Then, companies now tend to build a multicultural working environment. I feel lucky to have the chance to get used to various communication styles while I am still at school. Moreover, I gain qualified skills to collaborate well with students from different countries that profit for my future job. Additionally, I determined the value of knowing culture in the workplace to get along with new co-workers and become more productive in my career.
